The
job of the shipping committee is to help support the on going projects
of the Haiti Committee. In 2008, we sent two 40 foot containers to
Haiti containing pipes and valves to support the water project, medical
supplies to furnish the various medical facilities, and wire for cages
to help the Rabbit project get started.
The
supplies for the container are mostly donated equipment that are picked
up by many different volunteers and stored at different sites
throughout Hampton Roads until ready for shipment. The supplies must
be sorted, counted, boxed or crated up, to ready for shipment. On the
day to load the container, many hands are needed to accomplish this
task. The container is shipped to Port au Prince, Haiti, and then
unloaded and distributed to our partners in Haiti.
